It all began within the "competition" department of Jeanneau. Baptized Jeanneau Techniques Avancées (JTA), this entity came to be due to the strong working relationship between the management of Jeanneau, Fleury Michon, Philippe Poupon, and Jean-François de Prémorel. The first Lagoon 55 was born in 1987.

On the right bank of the Garonne, the former shipyard, ACSO (Ateliers & Chantiers du Sud-Ouest), also known by the name of Forges & Chantiers de Gironde, became operational under the name of Construction Navale Bordeaux.

The Groupe Beneteau, world leader in sailboat construction, acquired Construction Navale Bordeaux. The first Lagoon 55s were then produced in epoxy, glass, carbon, and Kevlar, in a vacuum, with the same technology as the best race boats of the era. Some twenty boats would be constructed before the Lagoon 57, followed by the Lagoon 37, 42, and 47, and then the Lagoon 67, in 1994.

Lagoon launched the first production-volume catamaran of the brand: the Lagoon 410, with innovative vertical windows in the hull (creating a larger interior space and avoiding the greenhouse effect caused by the sun
shining through oblique windows).

Lagoon bucks the trends! The birth of the Lagoon 440 brings a wealth of innovations breaking with the codes of the time: a flybridge with all the equipment located on the roof, immense windows in the hull, a forward cockpit, a wing-shaped, wave-piercing nacelle, an owner's cabin with an island berth, a walk-in closet and separate shower... and over 100 boats were sold before the model was first presented at the 2004 Miami Boat Show!

The Lagoon 380 was presented for its world premiere in La Rochelle. Comfortable and dependable, it remains unequalled in its category, today, with nearly 1,000 boats sold to date, cruising the world's seven seas - a sales record for a cruising catamaran!

Lagoon continued to innovate, launching the Lagoon 420 Hybrid, the first series-model catamaran in the world offered with a diesel/electric hybrid propulsion system.

The Lagoon 42, launched at the Dusseldorf Boat Show, elevated comfort and performance to yet-unmatched levels for a 41-fooot catamaran. That year, the brand also expanded its product offer, with the largest catamaran ever built in the shipyard: the SEVENTY 7, a luxury catamaran of nearly 24 meters long.

Lagoon continued to grow with the launch of the SEVENTY 8 motor yacht. It was unveiled in a world premiere in Cannes along with two other new models, which joined the line of Lagoon sailing yachts: the Lagoon 40 and the Lagoon 50. A new generation was born.

The latest addition, the Lagoon 51 was launched. This catamaran, with its innovative design, is the result of a sustainable construction process, with equipment on board designed to preserve the environment, and a layout for a new generation.

Lagoon celebrates its 40 years of know-how and innovation. Since 1984, Lagoon has been fulfilling its owners' dreams. In 2024, 7,000 catamarans will be sailing around the world.
